This is going to make a dent in many websites and possibly ruin your browsing experience, so I'm not recommending it for most people.

That is too much work. You are much better off using the NoScript Addon.

Addons such as this one are the main reason I stuck with Firefox instead of Chrome. However, I was surprised recently to see that there are some addons for Chrome that are similar to NoScript. I haven't tested enough yet to see if they are as easy to use and as effective as NoScript. I have only tested "ScriptNo", but it seems a bit more difficult to use than NoScript for Firefox. Also, I was happy to see that Adbock is finally available for Chrome.

So, I may be using Chrome a little more frequently now.
