all this left right side problems are BS as D800 AFS only works with center point

Mironv, you can steer the AF point around in AFS using the multicontroller. You can use any focussing point that you want. That's in single point mode. You can also use 'auto' mode, which will select AF points automagically (and usually wrongly). Maybe you haven't worked out the new AF control. Press the button in the middle of the AF switch, then the back wheel selects between AF-S and AF- C, while the front wheel selects between the options available in that mode. In AF-S you get 'S', single point (but steerable) and 'Auto' (multi-point). In AF- C you get S, Auto, 3D, d51, d21, d9. The 3D and dynamic selection don't make much sense in AF-S, presumably why Nikon doesn't offer them. If you don't want all 51 points active in 'S', you can select that in the shooting banks menu.

That's the problem you can only use one stinking small AF point and if you go outside of X sensor you have only single line sensors. Other CAM3500 in AFS can use 9 21 points there fore can be more useful and accurate in AFS.

you can do that - select 9 or 12 and use 'auto' setting.
