5d mark III video equip questions

For the purpose of shooting soccer, club and high school, full field it has been suggested I have good sturdy tripod with a fluid ball head for panning, external microphone and a viewfinder.

also of course, fast cd cards.

So, I have an old, rather heavy velbon tripod with a center column. The head rotates, but its not fluid. No easy way to level, etc.

Do I need to replace this or is there a way to just add the fluid ball head?

What microphone products will get the job done for me, given I won't give up my day job and become a videographer?

Last, to monitor the recording, I find the live view is not ok for daylight in Florida.
