Technically this isn't a Kenko "ability", but the disability of the Kenko to pass the modified relative aperture to the camera. You can achieve exactly the same effect, blocking the data transfer, with the Canon extender simply by taping up the relevant pins on the connector.

This has worked on every Canon camera that had f/5.6 AF capability.

Not very sure about that blocking the pins in the new TC's don't generate any error?

Taping the pins on Canon's TCs is a very old trick. Unfortunately, it doesn't unlock some hidden camera capability, it just stretches the specs of the camera and the AF may or may not work as expected. It's good if it works, and you can't complain if it doesn't.

Old 1D bodies had f/8 AF within specs .
