Anything technique / process that is good for lazyness will survive.
So if people can get rid of the ordeal of home printing their pics and sent them untouched to a budget print website, that will be our future.
But there will remain a niche market for specialists and enthpusiasts. Over time the wide variety (overkill) of choice of materials may fade, but the pro materials will have the best chance of survival (but Hema wallmarkt photo paper will disappear before the decade ends).
