As well as blackening the adapter, you may want to blacken the mount of the lens itself. Attach the adapter to the lens and look from the rear - if you see shiney metal, chances are it will being reducing image contrast by re-reflecting the light that is shining off the digital sensor.

Black marker pen, which can be easily enough removed later if necessary, is a quick way to reduce reflections from the silver lens mount.
