No sensor ever is holding any lens back. Even when using the SAL 24/2 ZA on an old Konica-Minolta Dynax 7D camera (APS-C, 6 MP), the sensor wouldn't hold back the lens. Sensors never hold back lenses. This idea is a misconception.
