I have no proof, just speculation. Sony is replacing the 300, 79/200, and 70/400 (KM design reputedly) when they need to fill many holes in their lens line up. It only makes sense if there was a business decision to rid themselves of license fees.
There are no licensing fees Sony bought the KM!!!!!
