3880 Maintenance Tank Service Life Out of Date??

Suddenly I can't print - the message from the printer is that the maintenance tank service life is expired. The users manual doesn't say anything about this from what I could find.
Is this for real? The user panel on the printer indicates that the maintenance tank is at 61% full.
