Just installed one in my D800E myself, quite easy and hardly any issues with dust. You have to push the SILVER latch (located 4-5mm to the right of the black notch at 12 o'clock) INWARDS (into the camera), not outwards as the instructions state on http://brightscreen.com/install.html .
I ordered a mat screen, without fressnel or split focus. MF is much, much easier than with the original Nikon screen. No metering issues, but I never use spot metering so didn't test that. AF still works as before, and AF-points still show up in the viewfinder (though maybe not illuminated, I had already turned that off), as do crop lines (4x5, DX, ...). No need to order the brightscreen with 8x10 crop lines, thus, saves you $60,- or so.
