Aperture needs to be wide open for phase-detect AF to work with best performance, so it makes sense not giving aperture control to the user when AF is used.
Ok, but the same considerations are valid also for pictures right? If af limit is 5.6, with a fast lens i could have choices..
Then as aperture is fixed and open, shutter speed has to be used for exposure control, which is why the OP has a fast shutter speed.
To keep a slow shutter speed with AF, one needs to use ND filters.
The Op wanted if i got it right, faster shutter speed, same ap, higher iso compared to the camera choice. I don't understand whether there are any af issues here.....
