Would you buy a refurbished Nikon?

I'm looking at buying a D7000. The price on the refurbs has me tempted. Does "refurbished" mean that Nikon has checked it out (repaired/adjusted if needed) and says it is just like new in every way? Should I be concerned the camera may have some type of imperfection that could resurface? Wouldn't I have just about the same chances of getting an imperfect unit by buying a Brand New one?
