You can still use the AEL and ISO control in P-mode though. The a57 automatically limits your shutter speed to 1/60 to 1/120 (the usual shutter speed for 24 and 60p) and fixes the aperture to f3.5 (which gives pretty sharp results for primes and zooms with constant f2.8). It works good enough for most of my run-n-gun video needs. Under direct sunlight, you have to screw an ND filter on your lens, set your ISO to 100, point your camera to the sky, and lock the exposure with the AEL button.
If I'm shooting a talking head or a landscape/buliding, focus peaking in manual mode does the trick.
