I know there is some concept im not grasping. I learned that whatever frame rate you record video in, you want to double the shutter speed. On my a57, I set it accordingly on shutter priority, but when i go to record video, it automatically changes it to another speed.
go to record video, How? If you simply click movie button, it goes full auto.
If you want more choices use the dial. BUT if you want to have control of shutter speed or aperture or both, you have to use Manual focus. So if you want to use one of the best features of the camera, the slt unique phase focusing during video, you have to give up any control. That is nonsense, it a obvious software limit that Sony decided to put in a57 to make it "entry level", and it's not the only one. If you want to use af try to use p-mode (which is not like photo p mode, it doesn't let you choose ap ss pairs) and increase iso manually.
