Nikon DX lens confusion
Sep 1, 2012

Hi I'm new here, I just bought a D7000 and am acquiring a few lens lately.

I was wondering if all lens on a DX body including DX lens get a 1.5 x magnification, how come they still label an 18 - 55mm DX lens as that, instead of it's actual focal length?

What is the advantage of buying a DX lens (w/magnified focal length) over, say an AF-S lens that has an aperture ring?

In my mind, the AF-S lens has the advantage of being compatible if I ever decide to move up to a full frame body one day.

And as a side note what is the widest a DX lens can go?
