Suggested improvement for the OM-D

I have made this suggestion before hoping that Panasonic would act on it (no such luck). But now that the OM-D is with us, I will repeat it, since I know the Olympus team lurks on this forum:

Focus assist is less than helpful under some circumstances -- point a long lens at a bird in a tree and touch the focus barrel. Suddenly you have a blowup of something but no idea where your intended subject is. You have lost your bearings.

Focus assist would be so much more useful if it emulated the old microprisms of the film camera era: give us a blown up central region but with enough of the image left at normal magnification that we can figure out how to point the camera at the intended subject.
