I have both and use both a lot. Here's how I choose which one to take with me.

1. For travel: Nex-7 system (no brainer)
2. For telephoto: Nex-7 (200mm-500mm)
3. For image isolation (narrow DOF): D800E

4. For full-length portrait: Nex-7 (I prefer to use the Nex-7 waist level screen vs. kneeling on the ground with the D800E
5. For high-resolution landscape: D800E (print sizes above 30")
6. For fast action (grandchildren, etc): D800E
7. For macro: Nex-7
8. For tripod: Nex-7

Some of these categories would switch to favor D800E if that camera only had a flip out screen which it doesn't. Same comment for the A900. I am holding onto my Sony full-frame lenses in case Sony decides to release a large mp full-frame camera with a flip-out screen. Number #4 above is important for me.
