Olympus PL1: Blurry Pictures When Using Self-Timer

When using self-timer to take indoor pictures, the results are blurry. I tried using flash, as suggested by the Olympus site. I used the Portrait scene mode, Auto mode, and played with the P mode.
Any suggestion? Thank you.
