Nikon P7700 samples

Yes, I know this is the Sigma forum, but let me explain.

I've been intending to get the DP2M or DP1M when it came out, but sample images are showing a severe vertical-banding problem in solid colors (like skies). I can overlook image defects like a green hue in the corners, or Sigma's overall poor (though pleasing) color reproduction, but vertical banding is a no-go for me. Take a look at the sky in this image:

As a consequence, I've started looking at other cameras, and I came across sample images from the Nikon P7700 here:

Frankly, I think they are extremely good. They are clear and sharp with no evidence of artifacts or anything -- and this is especially surprising given that the P7700 doesn't have a very large sensor. The sensor size is 1/1.7", which is a good deal smaller than APS-C.

Anyway, I'm curious to hear what other people think of those Nikon images. The picture of the waterfall is particularly stunning to me. Both the waterfall and the surrounding trees look really sharp and clean to me. What do YOU think?

(Be honest. Please don't pan the images just because they aren't Sigma images.)
