Nikon Warranty: "Date of Purchase" definition?
Sep 1, 2012

Hi, I'm wondering what Nikon USA's definition of "Date of Purchase" is when it comes to their camera body warranties. My invoice on Amazon prints the "Order Placed: February X, 2012" and "Shipped on April X, 2012". It was a preorder, hence the large discrepancy in time.

Does Nikon USA's warranty terms define the warranty start date ("Date of Purchase") as the date the order was placed (in this case, a very early preorder date), or the date Amazon actually shipped the product? Or perhaps the day my credit card was charged (not found on my invoice, but I assume it's around the same day Amazon shipped my item)?

Also, do I need to register my camera with them to get warranty service? If not, is there any advantage to registering? (don't want to get email spammed without good reason).

Thanks,
entlassen
