The date the item was physically delivered to you would be the warranty start date. But the warranty isn't affected by whether or not you register - product registration is not a requirement.
Thanks for the response. Yes there is common sense involved, but there are definite answers to my questions. For example, if I ever need to get warranty service from Nikon, and I show them my warranty slip and invoice from Amazon, they are looking for a very specific definition of what date the "Date of Purchase" is. I am asking in this forum because, well, I figured "Nikon Talk" has some people who might know a little bit about Nikon warranties.
