D300 Flash Not Detected
Aug 31, 2012

I've upgraded from my D50 to a D300 and the learning curve is steep to say the least but I'm getting there, albeit slowly.

I'm not at all experienced with flash photography - I use it when I have to and try to keep everything as simple and uncomplicated as possible. On the D50 with the SB-600 I could get results - not good enough for a wedding but just OK.
First attempts with the D300 using the in-built flash only, are a total failure!

Bracketing is set to "off" (0F - 03) - the exif shows "Flash fired . . . return light not detected" - clearly the case from the image result.

Can anyone see what's wrong from the exif data, or can I supply info about the camera settings that might be the problem? (Questions about the settings on the camera should be asked gently, it's still a bit of a nightmare finding my way round in there!)
Any help and/or advice would be appreciated.

Not sure what's needed to enable exif access . . .
