I also recommend using wider apertures on the set if you want a soft background.
Softening the background in Photoshop is really one of those things you shouldn't be doing. Especially if its so obvious and poorly done. You forgot to soften some areas (between the legs of the lady on the right, is just one example) and there are harsh borders between softened background and the original background - clearly visible in this picture:
