The HS30EXR and "Live View"
Aug 30, 2012

I'm taking a little poetic license with the term 'live view', but my question concerns seeing what an image will look like prior to actually taking the picture.

When shooting in Manual mode should I be able to see the image changing in the view finder or LCD, as I'm changing either S or A values, prior to actually taking the picture? The values of S and/or A change in the VF or LCD, but the image itself remains the same no matter how much the range of S or A changes. It seems like the only way I can see what the picture will look like, is to actually take the picture and then view it. This seems like I'm left with a purely trial and error system when in Manual mode. What am I missing here?

Help much appreciated.
