Sorry I forgot to mention I'm in the uk here so I was expecting the d600 to be about £1500 in the uk (products usually add up the the same $1500-£1500 when there in the uk due to taxes etc) which equates to $2300ish. Over here it seems you can get a good quality d3 for that.
You are right 9fps is not a need but more a want... Although the buffer is probably more of a worry for me and I really don't want to be hitting it with the 9fps (could always set it lower but kinda defeats the object)
ISO is also something I want bettered over my camera, although I know it will be better in the current fx cameras but will a d3/d700 be that much better than the d3100?
Another thing I would like is dual sd slots and I know the d600 will probably have this it just seems it won't be quite the camera I'm after (time will only tell) d3 has dual slots but I will have to buy CF and I believe the d700 only has one CF...
Oh and yes I have a set of ND filters but there the square cokin ones as I always had the intention of getting different lenses I didn't want to be stuck with one filter size, it looks bloody stupid on the front of a d3100 as a walk about thing, once I settle with better lenses for the FF I will probably get a few circle ones, but wouldn't be needed I guess if I had the 1/8000 shutter.
