If you have one of the cheap remotes, I would suspect that's where the problem is. When I first bought one, it would work intermittently. First I shaved the remote's connector sides so it would fit into the hole of the camera connector better. Since this did not solve the intermittent problem, I opened it and found a small resistor soldered on the board was bent leaning very close to a wire, and easily touching it. After straightening it and placing it far from it, the remote has worked flawlessly ever since... Al
