Take a 80-400VR to Tuscany or not?

i forgot - i had an underwater case, rain covers, garbage bags - all for bad weather. never used them (the garbage bags could be most practical from those 3). if the rain is light - even my NEX did it(keep it under the jacket, frame in your mind and use it only for the "decisive moment"). if the weather is bad - thunderstorms and stuff - you'll be inside, in a dry place anyway.

and if you are so willingly to cary all that stuff - where is your best friend=the tripod ?
