"This raises the question that to my knowledge there still is no video editing software that can handle 1080/60p and output to 60p."

Again, I cannot account for your knowledge, which is incorrect in this instance. Most Windows editors handle 108060p natively and can output 108060p videos and this has been true for years.

I will give you three examples:

1. Sony Play Memories Home - comes free with Sony camcorders, which produce 108060p videos. You can trim, merge and make 108060p videos and AVCHD 2.0 blurays. Lossless editing.

2. HD Writer 4.0 - comes free with Panasonic camcorders, which produce 108060p videos. You can trim, merge and make 108060p videos and AVCHD 2.0 blurays. Lossless editing.

3. Sony Vegas (either Pro or the consumer version). Full-featured editor. This capability has been there for many years.

I list these three because I have personally used them, not because they are the only ones that have the capability.
