Canon Pancake EF 40mm -Crop?

Hello
if i put the new Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM on my Canon 500D-
Do i get a 40mm field of view?
Or does the crop factor come in to play?
Im used to old school 35mm film lenses.
please advise
