About Notes with MT Lion

Maybee i got a bit confused, but as usual this is not something apple writes clear, this is why why i ask here

Notes syncs now only via iCloud, What about the ones on your iPhone only? i seems not possible to sync them anymore?

so notes sync is 100% iCloud as i understand, But what I can't understand why remove the good old sync. some people people live in the jungle with apple gear you know
