Samsung Galaxy S2 + Canon SLR?

Does anyone here know if it is possible to connect a Canon DSLR to a Samsung Galaxy S2 (or any Android for that matter) and transfer jpeg images? (For uploading and sharing.)

I know of the DSLR Controller App, which allows tethered shooting connected to an Android phone, but that isn't really what I want.

I simply want to shoot as normal with the camera (a 7D) and then connect it to the phone to upload the shots.

I have a USB host cable and have been able to establish a connection to the camera (verified using some kind of USB-checking app), but I haven't managed to see or import any images.

Anyone else who has had more success?
