Yep, exactly that. I already have multiple MkIV bodies and the 1.3X sensor works better for covering field sports with the 400. No sense in burning out my 1DX when I have multiple MkIV's in the bag. I've always been extremely dissatisfied with the performance of the 2X extender.
The 1DX will get it's turn during basketball season.
