hey Hans
Can you explain the part about automatic highlight recovery in LR4.1?

It's new feature in Lightroom 4.x where highlights are recovered even in small areas where one channel is blown. I'm not sure what exactly is the criteria for where the recovery works and where it does not work. The clipping indicators will not show blown highlights in such areas. So far I have not found a description of how the algorithms work. It's an integral feature of the new process version 2012 and it can not be turned off. I have checked many of my shots and where I previously had to use an exposure one stop lower exposed I can now with (to me) no visible difference choose the one stop higher exposure which shows clipping in PV2010. This means a lower level of noise in shadows.

thanks a lot for the explanation.Makes sense.

so you bracket till you find the optimum ETTR(till no clipping?)?And you post process that one?
