Difference between displays: A Merrill image
9 months ago
|
I noticed that different computer displays render an image rather differently (more than I had thought!).
Here are different results from an image, rendered differently by SPP (please click (Original) to view the original image),
(1) Noise reduction standard:
(2) Noise reduction minimum:
(1) on a Retina / MacBook Pro no noticable banding on the sky I see, but some smear/mush of leaves. Almost realistic image altogether.
(2) on the same display faint (but non-negligible) banding on the sky is visible. But little smear (or mush) of leaves. Realistic image altogether.
On a DELL 24 inch LCD both (1) and (2) I see no banding. (1) shows kind of mushing of leaves, while (2) shows ok leaves. Both realistic.
So different displays will give you different results... When reviewing fellow posters' images, it would help us if you tell which display you're using, calibrated or not...
Anyway I can say that DP2M image are pretty close to "the moment"... The cars are running there, like "a mosquito in am amber"... Not perfect, but pretty real.
