I'd make sure to reseat everything you can (memory, drive connections, video card, etc.), just to make sure everything is getting a good enough connection, too (in case a bit of oxidation has built up over time, since reseating the connections can help to remove it from the friction of the contacts rubbing together).

I would also suspect the PSU as most guilty.
Agree that connections are the weakest point of any circuit. I've fixed many of them in electronic equipment, cars, anywhere they are it's the most likely circuit problem.
Now, do I need to worry about whether Windows 2000 (the last good OS by MS) will work on a current mobo? (My guess is that the mobo is not OS dependent).
