The best place to look is usually on the Apple website under the Support pages. Normally, when major IOS updates are due, an updated version of iTunes will be released onto the Apple Support Downloads pages. In order to make sure all your Apple software is updated (iTunes and anything else you have running) allow the Apple Software Updater to run in the background on your PC (this usually installs with iTunes, but if not, search the software support pages for the download). Mac users are automatically fed the updates via Software Update, or through the App Store in Mountain Lion. Hope that helps.
