Now that I've taken it out and used it like I usually do, with my Nikon 24-70mm f2.8, I can definitely say that sharpness cannot touch the Nikon. BUT, the Tamron is not far off and is still very sharp.

One thing that i really enjoyed, when walking about and shooting handheld, is that the tamron was precise in AF and got there without hunting. I don't remember it hunting at all, and i was able to shoot at 1/10th and have some keepers down there.

Ok, its £300-£400 approx. price difference than to the Nikons 24-70 2.8, and sharpness is sharp enough for me. But i probably got used to seeing sharper from my Holy Trinity and other lens Nikons that I have. So I'll see the cheaper price as a reflection of that.

BUT, the quick and precise AF and able to shoot at such low handheld shutter speeds, is a BIG bonus for me. I can see this lens coming very handy, indeed!

I'm not returning it for a refund, because I like it.

Here are some photos straight from my D3S for you to see.

You can see from the photo image info. what aperture and speeds it was shot.
The pathway one, was shot at 1/10th, handheld.
