Hot with a touch of HOT Sun ! Lighter weight better. 17-55 best if traveling with family. If a photographic trip then also bring 70-200, + CP and flash. Bring blower and brush to cleanup sandy soil that loves to get on everything. The parks old structures are beautiful inside. Be aware the altitude of the rim edge is around a mile high. Hiking/ touring at that altitude, clear sky and strong Sun can be very strenuous. Dry bag a must if rafting.
