Would you happen to know how to choose the Thoby projection from the batch script? It is not listed in the help file, but it appears somewhere on a list of projections supported with nona on GPU.

So, I finally got myself to try some more.
The Thoby projection for the Nikkor 10.5mm is f20 instead of f2 in the o line.
I don't see much difference.

@echo off
set width=4288
set height=2848
mkdir panini
for /f %%a IN ('dir /b *.jpg') do (
echo Defishing %%a
echo p f16 w%width% h%height% v140 n"JPEG q100" > > defish.pto
echo o w%width% h%height% f20 v140 y0 p0 r0 n"%%a" > > defish.pto
echo m i0 > > defish.pto
"C:\Program Files\Hugin\bin\nona.exe" -o panini/%%a_P defish.pto
del defish.pto)

I had more problems with portrait shots. I tried examining the .pto file of Hugin, but the problem was that I couldn't even type suitable parameters in the Stitcher tab of Hugin. Hugin tends to recompute certain parameters upon entry of others, so I was running in circles without much success. So I gave up and tried modifying the batch script. I expected I should use the same Equirectangular Panini projection for straightening the verticals, but by remapping to the same frame size I was losing some of the top and the bottom of the images, just like If I was converting to rectilinear and cropping. I'm not sure if I have the parameters right, but the changes I tried only made things worse, cancelled the achieved straightening of the verticals. Then I tried some other projections and f11 seemed to work best, cuts much less tops & bottoms.

@echo off

set height=4288
mkdir panini
for /f %%a IN ('dir /b *.jpg') do (
echo Defishing %%a
echo p f11 w%width% h%height% v85.9 n"JPEG q100" > > defish.pto
echo o w%width% h%height% f20 v85.9 y0 p0 r0 n"%%a" > > defish.pto
echo m i0 > > defish.pto
"C:\Program Files\Hugin\bin\nona.exe" -o panini/%%a_P defish.pto
del defish.pto)
