How bad is the RX100 highlight clipping and rolling shutter ?Software fixes possible?
Aug 24, 2012

Hi,

I sold my NEX-5n due to size and I am heavily thinking about a Sony RX100.

But the highlight clipping in pictures (more so than other cheaper, smaller sensor cameras) and rolling shutter in videos are holding me back.

Does anyone have examples of pictures with a lot of contrast which are correctly handled by the RX100 ? I can't seem to find any, even at night if there is a light in the picture it will be greatly exagerrated. It appears to me that something is not right, it could be either the sensor or maybe the meter, or the software ?

Do you think these flaws can be fixed with a software update, or are they hardware (sensor) related ?
