Traditionally, how long until price drop (T4i)?

I am looking to purchase my first DSLR and I am trying to decide between the Nikon D5100 and the new Canon T4i. I think I really do want the Canon but the only real benefit over the Nikon for me will be the touchscreen and the auto focusing. Considering the slightly better IQ on the D5100, I am having a hard time rationalizing spending the extra $300 for the Canon (hey, unlike some people on here, I am not made of money).

If it was only 200 or 100 more, then I think I could go with the Canon.

So, how long do these new cameras usually last before a major price drop? Or is it more related to before/after Christmas?

Hopefully I will be contributing to these boards more in the future. I have really enjoyed my S90, and am still exploring this whole photography thing.
