Macro-options with M43
Aug 24, 2012

Have been enjoying my first MFT camera in the past weeks, and am now convinced I will stay in this system for a long time. I see no reason to ever want a big bulky DSLR again. However, there is one photographic-hobby I’m eager to start again, and that’s macro.

Now I have the 14-42 kitlens and the 45mm 1.8 Olympus. But both are not starplayers when it comes to close focussing, so adding an extra lens or a set of Kenko-rings might not give me the 1:1 I’m looking for. I don’t mind spending money for a macro lens, but want to postpone my next lensbuy for a few months. I’m expecting new lenses at Photokina, at least the 60mm Olympus macro and possibly a Sigma 45mm. So for now, what would be my best option:

- Using the 45, and in what way?
- Using the kitlens (I doubt it’s sharp enough for pleasing results)
- Or use my not yet sold (EF) Tamron 90mm Macro, without aperture control)

And do electrical extension tubes for m43 even exist? I can’t find them on my local shops website.
