Just purchased Canon 7d

I am new to this particular forum, so please excuse my ignorance regarding the firmware issue. I just purchased a new Canon 7d and should be receiving it next week. It is an upgrade for me from the t2i, with which I was very happy but, well, I got the bug. Considering this is a new purchase, is the firmware update something I should be concerned about, or does that only apply if one is having issues with banding, etc. Thank you for taking the time to appease a newbie to the world of 7d!
