Bummed by MBP retina and 30" Cinema display combo
Aug 23, 2012

Received my MBP retina the other day and started the process of converting my Windows environment to Mountain Lion.

Overall enjoying the new "Mac" environment and tonight finally got round to replacing my trusty old Win 7 "workplace" with the MBP. That meant swinging my 30 inch Cinema display over and guess what? The MBP won't drive it at its native resolution

After looking around it turns out I need to get a dual DVI adapter.

First of all, the darn thing costs $100!! Then I read the reviews online and there are LOTS of problems with the 30" monitors.

Come on . . These are Apple's own products. Neither my Win7 PC nor my Win7 laptop had any problem driving this monitor, but they latest, state-of-the art, Apple product does.

I'm VERY disappointed . . .

Anyone encountered this? Anyone solved this?
