100mm, f5.6, ISO 125. Look at upper right corner and adjacent areas. Click to expand and it is obvious even at that resolution. Go to my gallery and see original. Frightening QC.

Frightening? Seriously?

We'd all love a pocket camera with a full frame sensor and a flawless 50mm Summicron for $650, but it ain't happenin' any time soon. For $650, this is what you get. So you can either keep buying/exchanging and hope you get lucky, or just go take pictures and spend all that nitpicky energy on making photographs that are powerful enough that they can't be faulted for a hint of softness in the corners.

I have spent the past few weeks being amazed at what this camera lets me do. Upon closer inspection, some of my images have soft corners. This does not change the fact that the camera otherwise performs like no other in its class. It's strengths and benefits far outweigh any inherent shortcomings or compromises in it's design.

I submit that if you are that bothered by a little softness in the corners, either this camera is not for you, as your expectations clearly exceed the limits of the technology at this price point, or perhaps your photos aren't strong enough to withstand a little technical imperfection.
