BTW, did you ever test the ADL/exposure thing from here?

I can't vouch for a D7000, but it works exactly as I described for both the D4 and the D800. Given the subtle changes in the way Nikon has described it in the manuals and online, it may be that the newer models are different.

Very strange. Horshack indicates his D800 is also affected by the ADL exposure change as I showed.

The D700 manual actually mentions it: " The Active D-Lighting option in the shooting menu adjusts exposure before shooting to optimize the dynamic range, while the D-lighting option in the retouch menu optimizes dynamic range in the images after shooting. "

In the D800 manual on page 174 it also states that exposure is actually changed.

Here you can see they get the same result as I do with the D4 at imaging-resource.com as I do with ADL changing exposure with the D7000

ADL "off" = 1/50s
ADL "high" = 1/80s

If you get the chance, please do the white wall test with your D4 or D800. If they don't react the same it would be great to know. Thanks for your time.

P.S. if I get anymore info I'll move it to the other thread so as not to interfere here. Thanks.
