Going to Italy...24-85VR or 24-70 2.8 or 28-300 VR?

Great feedback everyone. I truly appreciate it.

So it looks like I need to go with 2 lens purchases a wide angle prime and a mid-range zoom. Doesn't seem like there are many choices for wide angle lenses. It's either the 16-35 or the 14mm prime. Both are pretty pricey. I was hoping the 20mm would be wide enough since I could borrow my buddy's, but doesn't sound like it.

I will definitely check out Scott Kelby's site. Thanks for the tip.
