Hi Mark from Plustek here. There is no cost for the upgrade to SilverFast 8. Just go here and enter your SilverFast serial number: https://www.silverfast.com/get_update/en.html

Incidentally, the OpticFilm 7xxx hardware is functionally the same as the OpticFilm 8xxx hardware.
