Just asking

This forum is an excellent source of knowledge and inspiration. I do, however, have a question that has been lurking around me for some time. There's a lot of discussion on image quality, raw or jpeg, and about multi-meg images, and yet most images posted are a few measly kilobytes. Doesn't this negate a lot of serious discussion? Am I missing something? Just asking.
