Thanks for the observation. I've tested sharpness of three 105mm f/2.5 AIS lenses over the years on digital bodies and have been disappointed with resolution and MTF50 scores across the field compared to more modern optics. The older manual focus Nikkors have all needed to be stopped down 1 or 2 stops to get sharp performance on digital chips. After testing many small AIS vintage Nikkor lenses, I am all that much more impressed with the performance of the primes that Olympus has made for portrait application with micro four thirds cameras (e.g., 45/1.8 and 75/1.8.)
